Group Plans Set-up Guide

STEP 1 - Plan Sponsor Set-up Form (to be completed with the employer):
 

If you are setting up a Group Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP) only:

Timeline:
The GRSP setup takes approximately 5 – 7 business days to complete once we’ve received the completed forms in good order.

If you are setting up a Group Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP)  & Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) combo:

  1. Effective date of the DPSP
  2. Correct legal name that matches with the CRA business number
  3. CRA business number  
  4. Employer year end

Timeline:
The DPSP is a two-step process and can take 3 – 6 weeks.

If you are setting up a Defined Contribution Registered Pension Plan (DCPP):

The DCPP is a two-step process and can take 3 – 6 weeks.

Here’s what’s next, once we’ve received the completed forms:

  1. Once a plan is setup, you will receive an email from Marie-Helene Dube, Senior Admin Sales Data Maintenance at Mackenzie, including the new plan number and a welcome letter to the attention of the Plan Sponsor (employer).
  2. Sara Stuart, Business Development Manager at Mackenzie will also follow up with you to confirm.
  3. Depending on how the company has selected to send us contributions (step 2), instructions will be provided by our Group Support team.
  4. All of the member accounts must be created before we can accept the money. If this is not the case, the money could be suspended.
     

STEP 2 - Options for making contributions (to be completed with the employer):
 

We don’t charge any fees for this, just be aware that the company’s bank may charge a fee for an EFT. There are charges to the employer with the IVR method.

Transferring Group Plans

If you are transferring existing GRSPs or other individual RSPs over to Mackenzie Investments, please complete the Registered Transfer Authorization Form (TARI) for each member.
